Hello Friends.
Here are 4 new announcements and 3 old announcements.
Announcement 1: Walk to KL Tower
Dr. Tan Tok Shiong will be leading a walk for the blind to KL Tower on Wednesday, 8th September. Please meet at the Elderly Blind Center at 9.00 am. Also will be helpful if you could bring your own volunteer guides.
Announcement 2: MAB Cyber Club Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Celebration
This will be on Saturday, 25th September from 9.30 am – 1.30 pm at the MAB Cafeteria. The event is open to members and their families and no fee will be charged. Those interested in karaoke singing, should bring their own CD of Hari Raya songs. For karaoke, please contact En. Zahari Hashim at tel. 013 340 2079 and for Hari Raya celebration, please register with Pn. Rosnah Ahmad at tel. 012 333 6742. Closing date is 15th September.
Announcement 3: Electric Train Service
Many of you are probably aware that the electric train service to Ipoh began on 16th August. The ticket is available at the promotional rate of RM30.00 and the journey is about 2 hours only. The ticket counter is at level 2 of KL Sentral. You can contact the office at tel. 03 2272 3392.
Announcement 4: Malaysia Book of Record Largest Musical Performance by Special Children Update
This is an invitation from Krista Center for special children (including blind children) between 1 – 18 years old to take part. This will be on Saturday, 16th October from 10.00 am – 8.00 pm at the Amcorp Mall. Announcement 5: Elderly Blind Trip to Hadyai
This will be from 2 – 5 October (Saturday night – Tuesday) with twin-sharing accommodation, two breakfasts, one lunch and one dinner. Places to be visited include the Samila Beach, Yo Island, Tangkuan Hill Temple, floating market and Nora Plaza. The fee is RM230.00 for members and volunteers and RM280.00 for non-members. Announcement 6: Harmonica Workshop
MAB in collaboration with Malaysian Council for Rehabilitation will be holding a harmonica workshop for the disabled on Saturday, 13th November from 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm at the MAB Hall. The aim of the workshop is to introduce the harmonica as a means of holistic approach to life by helping to develop the mind and body through concentration and breathing techniques. Announcement 7: 3rd MCR Rehabilitation Conference
This will be from 20 – 22 September (Monday – Wednesday) at the PWTC. Discussions will focused on the disability act of Malaysia. Registration fee is RM100.00 for the disabled and RM200.00 for non-disabled. Blind individuals requiring sponsorship can contact Cik Fishah at MCR at tel. 03 7955 3510.
Announcement 8: English Braille Book
Here are 5 new English braille books in the MAB Library. The titles are:-
- Greek Myths by Robert Graves.
- The Marvelous Village Veiled In Mist by Sachiko Kashiwaba.
- Switch Bitch by Roald Dahl.
- Collection of Short Stories by W.W. Jacobs.
- Out of Nowhere into Nothing by Sherwood Anderson.
