Hello Friends.
Here are 5 new announcements and 3 old announcements.
Announcement 1: Demo and Talk on Products of Freedom Scientific
This will be conducted by a representative from Freedom Scientific on 26 & 27 August (Thursday & Friday) from 9.00 am – 1.00 pm. Blind individuals, parents, teachers and blindness organisations are invited to attend. For more information, please contact En. Silatul Rahim at tel. 03 2272 2677 extension 144 or 012 297 2991.
Announcement 2: Mandarin Sing Along
This will be on Tuesday, 31st August from 10.00 am – 2.00 pm at the Elderly Blind Center. The fee is RM1.00 only. Please register with Mr. Lai Kok Keong at tel. 03 2274 2576.
Announcement 3: Yoga Exercise Classes
A volunteer would like to provide a 3 month course in yoga exercises for the blind free of charge. The classes will be on Saturday morning from 10.30 am – 11.30 am beginning on 11th September at Kompleks MAB. Please register with Pn. Farah Jori at tel. 03 2272 2677 extension 121 by 30th August.
Announcement 4: Results of Eighth Onkyo Essay Contest 2010
The Otsuki prize of US1,000.00 went to Jenni Heryani of Indonesia. Two excellent prizes of US500.00 went to Ritchell Lim of Australia and Mohamad Asri Mat Isa of Malaysia. One of the fine works prizes of US200.00 went to Choo Kim Yoon of Malaysia.
Announcement 5: KL Sentral, Crown Jewel of Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad
A collection of articles concerning MRCB’s development of KL Sentral and other infrastructure in Brickfields is available in braille from the Malaysian Braille Press. The articles are taken from The Edge magazine. Please contact Mr. Moses Choo at tel. 03 2272 1442.
Announcement 6: Scholarship for Disabled from Shell Malaysia
Blind persons age 17 and above from Sarawak only intending to pursue a diploma or degree course can apply for this scholarship. The closing date is 10th September. For more details, please contact Pn. Farah Jori at tel. 03 2272 2677 extension 121.
Announcement 7: English Text Processing Competition
This will be one of the abilympic events. The national level will be held on Saturday, 4th December at Kompleks MAB. The prizes will be RM500.00, RM300.00 and RM200.00. Those interested, please contact Mr. Godfrey Ooi at tel. 03 2272 2677 extension 127.
Announcement 8: Basket Weaving Competition
The 3 winners for basket weaving competition for the blind in Taman Harapan on Tuesday, 5th October will be able to take part in the national basket weaving competition for all disabled categories on Saturday, 4th December at the MAB Hall. The 3 winners from the national competition will be awarded RM500.00, RM300.00 and RM200.00 respectively. The money will be presented on 18th December during the ‘Malam Mesra’ dinner of MCR.
