Here are 6 new announcements and 1 old announcement.
Announcement 1: Mobil Petrol Station
Many of you already know that the Mobil station next the YMCA has been taken over by Esso. So the next time you take a taxi, remember to tell the driver to pass through Esso (and not Mobil) to go to Brickfields.
Announcement 2: One Way Street in Brickfields
As you are aware, the system is being tried out in Brickfields for period of 3 months starting from August. When the MAB Executive Director, notice that the safety features had not been install on the first day of the trial, he had contacted all the relevant authorities such as DBKL, the police and even the minister in the Prime Minister’s Department to alert them of the need for such infra structure.
Announcement 3: 3rd MCR Rehabilitation Conference
This will be from 20 – 22 September (Monday – Wednesday) at the PWTC. Discussions will focused on the disability act of Malaysia. Registration fee is RM100.00 for the disabled and RM200.00 for non-disabled. Blind individuals requiring sponsorship can contact Cik Fishah at MCR at tel. 03 7955 3510.
Announcement 4: Job Vacancy for Male Masseur
The Job Placement Unit is looking for 2 male masseurs for a an outlet at Section 19, Petaling Jaya. The outlet is owned by a sighted Chinese person. Minimum salary offered is RM1,200.00 per month. For further information, please contact Ms. Jacqueline at tel. 03 2272 2677 ext 175.
Announcement 5: Awards for Active Braille Readers 2010 Update
Cash prizes of RM50.00, RM40.00 and 3 prizes of RM30.00 will be awarded to 5 active braille readers this year. Send the synopsis of the books either English or BM in 100 – 200 words to the MAB Library before 1st December. For more information, please contact Pn. Maswirda at tel. 03 2272 2677 extension 161.
Announcement 6: Basket Weaving Competition Update
The 3 winners for basket weaving competition for the blind in Taman Harapan on Tuesday, 5th October will be able to take part in the national basket weaving competition for all disabled categories on Saturday, 4th December at the MAB Hall. The 3 winners from the national competition will be awarded RM500.00, RM300.00 and RM200.00 respectively. The money will be presented on 18th December during the ‘Malam Mesra’ dinner of MCR.
Announcement 7: English Oldies Sing Along
This will be on Saturday, 21st August, 2.00 pm at the Elderly Blind Center. The fee is RM1.00 only. Please contact Ms. Violet Kok at tel. 03 2274 2576.
Announcement 8: English Audio Book
Here are 5 new English audio books in the MAB Library. The titles are:-
- Cube Root by Piers Anthony.
- Nobody’s Fool by Richard Russo.
- Freedom’s Challenge by Anne Mc Caffrey.
- Alexander the Great by David Wade.
- One Two Buckle My Shoe by Agatha Christie.
