Announcement 1: Participation of The Blind In Pasar Tani Business
FAMA would like to encourage the blind to take part in Pasar Tani which is a nation wide business. The blind can offer their skills in reflexology, handicraft and music. FAMA will be giving a course later. Those interested, please register with Pn. Jamilah at tel. 03 2272 2677 extension 173. Closing date is 23rd July.
Announcement 2: Awards For 5 Active Braille Readers 2010
These awards will be presented in December to library users who are members and have an active borrowing record. Send the synopsis of the books either English or BM in 100 – 200 words to the MAB Library before 1st December 2010. For more information, please contact Pn. Announcement 3: Petaling Jaya Section 13 To Be Accessible To The Disabled
At the workshop organized by the MBPJ access technical committee last month in June, they have come up with a concept model which will provide accessible features for the disabled in Section 13 of Petaling Jaya. This will be the second barrier-free project for the disabled. The first was implemented by DBKL in Brickfields in 2004.
Announcement 4: Audio Book Recommendation – Mahathir Mohamad In Turbulent Times by Barry Wain
This book is about Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad as Prime Minister of Malaysia, his contributions, his strength and his weaknesses. To borrow this book, please contact Pn. Zuraidah at tel. 03 2272 2677 extension 150.
Announcement 5: Elderly Blind Gathering
The next elderly blind gathering will be on Saturday, 24th July, 10.30 am at the MAB Hall. The talk will be on sugar and health presented by Mr. Anversah. Our blind friend from Sri Lanka, Mr. Madimaran has kindly agreed to perform on the Indian flute accompanied by tabela. Preceding the gathering will be lotto at the canteen or dominoes at the Elderly Blind Center. The fee is RM4.00 for members and RM5.00 for non-members. Announcement 6: KRM Talentime 2010
This will be on Saturday, 7th August, 8.00 pm at the MAB Hall. The fee is RM10.00 for members and RM15.00 for non-members. For more information and registration, please contact En. Anuar Bidin at tel. 016 379 8659.
Announcement 7: Harmonica Workshop
MAB in collaboration with Malaysian Council for Rehabilitation will be holding a harmonica workshop for the disabled on Friday, 30th July, 3.00 pm at the MAB Hall. The aim of the workshop is to introduce the harmonica as a means of holistic approach to life by helping to develop the mind and body through concentration and breathing techniques. Here are 5 new BM audio books in the MAB Library. The titles are:-
