CONFERENCE VENUE

The conference will be held at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), a premier conference centre in Kuala Lumpur.


CONFERENCE PROGRAM

The 12th I C E V I World Conference to be held on 16 - 21 July 2006 will provide participants with a vast opportunity to stimulate and generate new ideas an promote the exchange of information and experiences with educationist, practitioners, trainers of visually impaired people from all over the world. The Conference will examine achievements, challenges and strategies in bringing all segments into the mainstream so as to achieve equality in education. A series of plenary sessions, parallel sessions, poster presentation, exhibits, tours and social events will comprise the five-day programme.


CONFERENCE THEME

The main theme of the conference is `Achieving Equality in Education: New Challenges and Strategies for Change'.


PLENARY SESSIONS / KEYNOTE PRESENTATIONS

The programme will include four plenary sessions with four keynote presentations that will feature addresses by an outstanding panel of international experts from International Non-Government Organisations, Government, other non-governmental organisations, agencies and academia.


PARALLEL SESSIONS AND WORKSHOPS

The conference will include 6 parallel sessions allowing nearly 200 papers for presentation. Each of the sessions will focus on selected key focus titles which will be addressed by a panel of selected experts in their respective fields from different parts of the world. The programme will also include a workshop session with 15 focus workshop titles which will explore whole range of aspects from policy to service delivery.


POSTERS AND EXHIBITS

Facilities will be available in the conference venue for display of posters and booths for presentation of exhibits.


TOUR

The Host Committee will organise field visits to a wide range of tourist destinations which will include the tallest building in the world, new administrative capital of Malaysia and so forth.


LANGUAGE

The official language of the conference will be English. All plenary sessions and selected parallel sessions will have simultaneous translation in Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and English.

ACCOMMODATION

The conference will be held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC). Accommodation for participants is available at numerous hotels within walking distance of the conference centre. Detailed information will be available in the second announcement for the conference.

REGISTRATION FEE

The registration fee for the conference for participants from outside Malaysia will be MYR 1710/US$ 450 for early bird and MYR 1900/US$ 500 for those registering after March 15 2006. Fees cover conference kits, copies of abstracts and principal conference papers, lunches, refreshments, Opening and Closing reception, four conference dinners and a half day official tour. For blind and visually impaired persons, there will be limited volunteers helpers as guides.

The registration fee for accompanying person is MYR 570/US$ 150 which include access to the conference venue. It does not entitle him/her to any of the kits or documents (i.e. Certificate of Participation) nor access to the scientific sessions (access is granted only to the person accompanying a blind participant). Included in the registration fee is the half day official tour, all lunches, refreshments, Opening and Closing reception and four conference dinners.
